Earlier this month, I mentioned in my WIP Wednesday post that I was participating in an event sponsored by FreeSpirit. I'm very excited to be sharing this with 18 other wonderful Bloggers and you'll definately want to keep your eyes peeled for this one.
A few days ago, the official name was announced and wouldn't you know it...we have a graphic too.
While the Christmas in July Block-A-Thon doesn't official start until well, you guessed it- July! I wanted to make sure that I spread the word.
So mark your Calendars because a month from now we are gonna crank up the Bing Crosby and spread a little holiday cheer :-)

Modern Quilts Unlimited
Have you heard of Modern Quilts Unlimited?
They are a new quilting magazine coming this Fall. I had the opportunity to meet them at Quilt Market in Kansas City a few weeks ago and was very interested to learn about all of the exciting things they are cooking up.
Their site just went live a few weeks ago, and Angela Walters is their resident Blogger. I got to meet her too at the Modern Meet-Up....Eeeeee!!!
Angela was asking about "Inspiration" a week or so ago on Twitter and I shared with her the inspiration for my "Chocolate Covered Strawberries Quilt" as seen below.
You might remember me mentioning that I saw a commericial on TV late last year that was the inspiration for the above quilt. I never had my camera near me it seemed; but FINALLY a month or so ago, I was able to take a quick shot albeit it way after inspiration first hit. It was an updated commercial; but the inspiration was still the same.
Well, back to Twitter for a second...Angela wrote me back to let me know that I'd be included in her blog post titled "When Inspiration Strikes" that she was writing for Modern Quilts Unlimited. This afternoon, I saw the tweet and immediately hopped online to check out the blog post. YAY!!!! Thanks Angela!!!
So, go check it out and while you are there take a few minutes to read some of the other posts she has written too.

SMS Giveaway Winner
Thanks everyone for visiting my blog and commenting on my SewMamaSew Giveaway Day post. I had 326 comments...that's fabulous! Hopefully I'll see some of you around here after this week is over. Now before I get to the winner, I wanted to highlight a few things that I thought were interesting and maybe not so surprising about the answers I received.
When commenting, I asked people to answer what their favorite Comfort Food was. The answers I saw most frequently were Chocolate (of course), some form of Potato (mashed, baked, fried), Mac & Cheese, and Pasta. There were a few surprises in there like Octopus Salad :-)
Now onto the winner of the 2 half yard cuts of Anna Maria Horner "Good Folks" prints.
Random Generator choose # 82
Congratulations Emily!!!!! I've sent you an email, please get back with me soon so I can get your droolworthy fabrics mailed out to you asap.
Sincerest Thanks to everyone who played along, I hope you all had fun!

Pretty Pleats Reversible Tote
I've been a subscriber to Michelle's (i like orange) blog for a while now and always admired her Metro Link Quilt and all the lovely versions I had seen on Flickr.
When I saw her Pretty Pleats Reversible Tote pattern that she debuted earlier this month, I thought it was Adorable. Yet, being someone who has a background in Design and Patternmaking, I usually don't buy many patterns.
This past Saturday at our STLMQG meeting, Cara and Mary Claire both brought a tote that they had made from Michelle's pattern. Cara was one of the pattern-testers and Mary Claire whipped one up in no time the previous evening. Seeing these totes in real life immediately changed my mind...that afternoon when I got home, I hopped on Etsy and bought the pattern. This was actually my first Etsy purchase :-)
Let me tell you, the pattern is well-written, simple enough for a beginner; but with enough options for a more experienced sewer too. The sky's the limit.
Here's my 1st Pretty Little Tote...I say first; because I can see myself making these in lots of prints/patterns.

WIP Wednesday - 5/9/12
It's been nearly a month since I participated in WIP Wednesday; but I have lots to show this time around...just been so busy at work that I haven't had proper time to share. Let's start with some bee blocks that I finished.
The first two are Jessica's request for our Lou Bee "Bee". She provided the neutrals and asked for pleating and a pop of color.
Up next was April's block for the do.Good.Stitches TRUST Circle Bee. Tutorial here in case you want to make one yourself.
So, some months back I happened to be on Twitter and came across an open call for Bloggers who wanted to participate in John's (aka QuiltDad's) Blogger's Blockapalooza (Round 2). You might remember Round 1 here. Well, I signed up and was accepted...YAY! FreeSpirit Fabrics sent me the following FQs which I am to use in my block. This is just a quick sneakpeek; because nothing is being revealed until July.
Now, if I can only decide how I want to quilt this puppy up.
Well, that's it for now...clearly alot has been happening and I'm just now getting around to talking about it. Head on over to check out the other WIP Wednesday's participants.

Now, how about some actual Works in Progress, eh?
Finally, I wanted to share with you something that has taken way longer then necessary; but I kept getting cold feet because so many of my dear friends helped me create this and I didn't want to ruin their lovely work. You see, I mentioned earlier that I was part of the Lou Bee "Bee". There are 9 of us and each month we create 2 blocks for one another. I started us off last Summer and requested "Confetti" blocks with a neutral base and pops of Red/Yellow/Orange.
Well, I got down to work two weeks ago and as expected I tried to overthink it. Finally I just went with it and sashed each of the blocks with the same neutrals and did a little bit of scrappy sashing as well. I think it turned out really well and I can't wait to show off the quilt top at this weekend's STLMQG meeting.
Oh, and PS...there is a little Blog Hop happening giving you 3 chances to win
my first quilt pattern, MAZED

Shame on Me
I've been a terrible blogger lately; sorry about that. How dare my job eat into my crafty time ;-)
I have lots to share with you including new projects I'm working on, some bee blocks I've completed, the tale of Sew-In Saturday, and so much more. Currently, I'm just trying to dig myself out of my studio, and maybe find some time to take a nap.
What I am beyond excited to tell you about is a little Blog Hop happening next week. Three wonderful friends are helping me spread the word about MAZED, my first quilt pattern available for purchase here on Etsy.
I guarantee that you won't want to miss it...
