A while back, the team behind Fat Quarterly magazine, put out an open call for Designers looking to participate in one of their fabulous "Designer Challenges". We were asked to create a Christmas Stocking using Maude Ashbury's "Tinsel" collection; which we would all be receiving lovely pieces of in the mail.
Now, while I had never made a Christmas Stocking before; I understood the construction behind it. Yet, I didn't want to make any ol' stocking...so I thought on it for quite some time and of course wanted something with a little pizazz.
If you'd like to make your own Christmas Stocking, go and check out Issue 11 of Fat Quarterly...you will not be disappointed. There are a handful of other amazing stocking designs, as well as lots of fun Christmas'sy items including a few quilts, a tree skirt, and so much more.

Cute stocking! Is this open at the top like a traditional stocking or just the two pockets on the front? Either way it is super cute!
ReplyDeleteI love the pockets! Such a clever idea--would work awesome for my boys and we will need new stockings soon :)
