One of the swaps I'm participating in has us create mini quilts (under 24x24) and then swap them with an unknown partner who has selected your quilt as their favorite. There's a handful of other rules which determine who gets your quilt and vice versa; but I wanted to share with you some pics of the quilt I made...especially considering that it will be going to a new home within the next few weeks.
Besides the Kona white and some color of Kona pink, the other prints are generic from my stash. Yet, they all blend together nicely and even helped give the back a little character. So for the meantime, this little gem will sit in my studio until it's time to go to the post office and into the home of someone new.

Busy, Busy Weekend Revealed
It is amazing what one can get accomplished when they set aside time to sew. I made this cute little pincushion for my Modern Swappers partner. It's made from Joel Dewberry Modern Meadow fabrics, using a pattern from Heather Bailey which I found in a Quilts and More magazine.
Now that the easier thing was finished, I could start sandwiching my pieces and quilting the wall quilt that I was making...the larger of the items I would be sending to my Modern Swappers partner. You may remember me first mentioning the fabrics and layout I had chosen here. The top had been finished for a few weeks now and it was patiently awaiting it's turn on the machine.
As you can see, it's time had finally arrived. I just have to hand-sew the binding on and I'm done.
In other news, I received an awesome package in the mail on Saturday morning. It was from my secret PTS4 Pillow Swap partner. Inside was a box of seasonings for making Chicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo...which I LOVE. Also included was this amazing pillow cover; which fit perfectly on the 20" pillow form which I had bought only a few weeks prior.
This is absolutely perfect!!! The pattern is so cool and the fabrics she choose are right up my alley.
I could not have asked for a more perfect addition to my decor.

I'm sewing a few more things; but I don't want to reveal too much too soon. All in due time readers...

Busy, Busy, Busy Weekend
When the Thanksgiving festivities were over and a little shopping was done on Friday, I stole away to my studio and haven't really come out except for the necessary breaks, meals and visits with family.
While I am putting the finishing touches on a couple of swap items that are due mid-December; I'm also enjoying this time actually BEING creative. It's not often nowadays that I can spend more than an hour or so being creative...so when the opportunity presents itself, you bet I'm going to take advantage of it.
I'll be posting some pics soon of what I've been working on.

Modern Swappers - Part 1
I joined the Modern Swappers group on Flickr, and just in time to participate in the latest round. This swap required that you make something you secret partner could use in their home, hopefully using some fabrics that are in their style.
After doing some research I ended up buying some Joel Dewberry "Modern Meadow" fabric from SewMamaSew!.
Inspiration finally hit and I immediately began cutting into the fabric. I did some piecing and then auditioned some layouts and finally chose the below.
This is my first time trying HST (Half Square Triangles) and it's going pretty good. I'm halfway through the sewing and although there are a lot of points to match, I'm doing okay.
