The First Pictures

I promised a photo of the mess that I got myself into and here it is...ain't she a beauty, of course now that I think about it, you probably can't see her through the mess that is the un-kept landscaping. Believe it or not, those "trees" in the front blocking the house are actually holly.
If that photo didn't scare you, here is a closeup shot of the backyard. Yes, that is a concrete table and chair set. Upon closer inspection the patio it is sitting on is actually brick; but one could never guess with the overgrown grass and weeds.

This house had been sitting vacant for almost a year; but I believe most of this mess had been around for quite longer then that. Nevertheless, this mess didn't scare me off. The inside is even worse; but I'll save that intrigue for a later time.

My First Posting

I know my way around the internet and have read blogs off and on for quite some time; but never really got hooked...until that is I came across several Old House Restoration Blogs.

You see I just recently (August 17th,2007) closed on my dream house, a 100+ year old Folk Victorian in St. Louis County. The story of how I found it and the drama that followed will remain a mystery to you readers. All I will say is that FATE played a big part and to her I am grateful.

I'll be posting some photos and further information soon. In the meantime, I would love to hear from you. If you know of some blogs that I need to check out, let me know about them.
